In the South, one should always be ready to add a few more guests to the table! But when those unexpected guests end up being your parents….that makes it even more festive! Because it's family! And there is nothing quite like family! They are welcome guests anytime in my opinion!!
Any dinner party is special…but it was my parents, my children and my granddaughter! They are my most favorite guests at any dinner, big or small! It didn't matter one bit that it was only soup and sandwiches!
It almost felt like we were entertaining Royalty!
Especially when the dessert was announced! Oh wait, have I been watching way too many episodes of Downton Abby? We are trying to catch up since Andrea told us all about it! Anyway, I had just opened my brand new copy of Coastal Living this morning…and that's when I knew….my family would love this dessert!
I made it just like it said…except for a few "exceptions" and "additions"!
Just take a look!
I always love seeing an Apple Pie filled at first glance…those lucious apples are just waiting to be baked!
We thought we were just having Mitch, Britney and Layton to eat a simple dinner with the two of us and Holly…she ran in the 'Color Run' today in Nashville and got in late
But it got so much better!
At the last minute…my sweet mother showed up! She wanted to talk and laugh and we can certainly oblige her in that area! After nagging her for quite some time about staying to eat my dad called while on his way home from hunting! He was hungry and he wanted to stay! I was very glad! Not only had I made Turkey Tortilla Soup from leftover Turkey and Dressing ( yes, I had a Thanksgiving craving last week!) I also had one tray of Ham Delights to make that I had not made for our Open House! It was a perfect dinner! Then, as if that weren't enough, I opened my brand new Coastal Living Magazine and saw the divine recipe for Open- Face Apple Pie with Salted Pecan Crumble!
Hope you will check it out! It was so yummy!
Have a wonderful week….I can't believe I finally have my laptop back and a semi normal week in front of me! I'm scared to get too excited but loving the possibilities!
Much love,
But it got so much better!
