So, we've had this incredibly large pine tree that has been dead for a good while now…I mean like probably 10 years or so…and every storm I'm calling Jim fretting that this will be the one...this will be the one storm that will finally knock it down and it will come crashing down on our house!
Let me back up a bit…if it HAD come crashing down I had prayed that none of us would be hurt…especially Miller since it would've hit his bedroom first!
But…on the other hand, I had visions of getting to re-do the house after the damage was done! Ok…so it's really not worth it if you have to go through that and I'm extremely glad that Jim finally got the tree guys out here yesterday and they cut it down. It was an amazing sight!
The cranes….the trucks…the amount of manpower it took to get one dead pine tree out of our back yard without hurting the fence or any other trees…let alone the house!
They were incredibly professional and it was a really a sight to behold!
I have to wonder if sometimes God doesn't see our sin in this very manner. Does it take ten years or more for us to finally see it? Does it take cranes and lots of workmen in our lives to reveal it and uproot it? Or sometimes…it is just that one final straw that breaks the camels back so to speak? No matter…as long as the log is taken out of our own eye…as long as we acknowledge the sin in our heart..that is really all that matters! Otherwise…it would grow and grow and yes, I've seen full well that it can quite possibly knock the house down and take everyone inside along with it.
That would be dreadful!
Thankful for a loving but just God that keeps us accountable in various ways! To God be the glory…Great things He hath done!
Love these verses in Hebrews 12 and Ephesians 4
1Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,2fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.…
Ephesians 4:22
22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.
Wow, Carolyn! That is big tree! They can use that for furniture!
ReplyDeleteHope that you are having Happy New Year!
Thanks for the scripture. I always enjoy the inspiration God has for us.
