Psalm 16:6

Psalm 16:6 "The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance." The first time I ever remember hearing about this verse was when my parents and several of their "couple" friends decided to buy a mountain home in Highlands, North Carolina. They wanted to name it something meaningful, something that would remind them of God's grace and lovingkindness. They all settled on this verse and to this day there is a sign that welcomes you as you walk up to the front door. It simply states "Pleasant Places". To me it is always welcoming and familiar.  Recently, a dear friend shared with me how God had given her this verse for totally different reasons. Reasons that only a young mom can understand. You see, she needed a reminder of the "boundary lines" that are drawn for us as moms..in particular, young moms raising young children. Even more than that…young moms with a career!  I would give anything to go back and re-do those days when my children were from birth to about 9. I'm not sure why those numbers stick in my head…but I do feel as if those are the most important and formative years. I'm thankful that my friend was given this verse by our Heavenly Father to remind her that she is not doing this in vain…she is raising her 6 precious children to follow Him…she is literally teaching them life lessons even as she home schools them. The things imparted from a mom to a child should be held dear…a fact I feel like our society has totally forgotten about. And then, the things imparted from a father to a child…even more important in some ways. Together, they make a pretty good balance.  So, this was just something that I felt prompted to share!
